The title already gives away what this is about. We waited a long time for it, and at last it is here. So, what has SAP learned to do on this front...

Once an outbound delivery has been distributed to SAP EWM, you can now switch the delivery to change mode. Fields that are not relevant for EWM can be changed according to the standard SAP ERP rules.

Fields that are relevant for SAP EWM can be changed under certain conditions:

  • Quantity or batch can be changed as long as no pick warehouse tasks have been created in EWM
  • Means of transport can be changed as long as no vehicle has been created in EWM
  • Texts can be changed as long as no outbound delivery has been created in EWM for the outbound delivery order

Which other fields are available for change:

SAP EWM 9.5 - Change outbound delivery after replication

This functionality only works as of SAP S/4HANA 1709. To activate it, set the checkbox in SPRO under «Logistics Execution - Extended Warehouse Management Integration - Basic Setup of Connectivity - Configure SAP EWM-Specific Parameters»:

SAP EWM 9.5 - Change outbound delivery after replication

In EWM, function module /SCWM/OUTB_DLV_GET_CHANGEABLE is used to check whether the delivery may be changed; it uses the class /SCWM/CL_ERP_OD_GET_CHANGEABLE:

SAP EWM 9.5 - Change outbound delivery after replication

Two BAdIs have also become available:

  1. /SCWM/EX_ERP_OD_CHANGEABLE – a BAdI with three methods (there is a fallback class /SCWM/CL_EI_ERP_OD_CHANGEABLE):
  • MODIFY_CHANGEABLE – you can forbid changes to fields that SAP allows to be changed.
  • GET_START_WH_PROCESSING – controls which date and time is returned to ERP as the expected start of picking. If it is empty, the process has already started and changes are impossible. By default the time is taken from the header, from the DWA warehouse activity status.
  • PREVENT_NEW_ITEM – you can forbid the creation of new outbound delivery items in ERP once the delivery has been distributed.
  1. /SCWM/EX_ERP_MAPIN_OD_CHANGE - called when an outbound delivery is changed in ERP. It receives all the data from the ERP delivery as input and returns the EWM delivery data as output. In other words, when an ERP delivery is changed you can add your own data to the EWM delivery.

What is the bottom line? A very useful change, and one everybody had been waiting for. Previously you had to build an enhancement in SAP ERP just to be able to change the delivery fields that are not relevant for EWM. Now it is available in the standard. As a major bonus, we also got the ability to change some fields in the EWM delivery itself.
