The new SAP EWM 9.5 release has finally made it possible to build full pallets out of leftovers. Let us take a closer look at what has been added.
A new transaction has appeared in the SAP menu under «Extended Warehouse Management» - «Work Scheduling»: /SCWM/STOCK_CONS - Consolidate Stock. When you run it, the following screen appears:

Let us go through what each field means.
The «Location Data» section
Here you define the selection of bins in which consolidation is to be performed.
The «Product Data» section
Here you define the selection of product data for which consolidation is to be performed.
Note: by default the following stock is also filtered out:
- Stock that has a reference to a warehouse request (delivery)
- Stock located in a transportation unit or in a resource
- Stock that is already in a full HU or in a larger quantity
- Stock in blocked bins (blocked for goods receipt or goods issue)
- Stock with an open warehouse task
- Stock with an active physical inventory
The «Target UoM» section
Here you define the target unit of measure that should result from consolidating the stock. The options are:
- The largest unit of measure from the product master
- The highest level in the packaging specification. The determination procedure for the packaging specification is specified here as well.
- Preferred unit of measure – the preferred UoM is taken from the product master
- Enter the target unit of measure manually
The «Parameters» section
- Take bins with stock into account – if set, stock quants with the indicator «skzsi» (blocking indicator: due to continuous physical inventory) are selected as well
- Allow splitting of partial quantities – if set, the system may split existing stock quants. For example, the stock holds boxes in quantities of 5, 5, 4 and 3. A full pallet is 15 boxes. The system will split the last quant with quantity 3 and plan a pick of 1 box.
- Warehouse process type – the process type the consolidation warehouse tasks will be created with.
- Work center – if specified, all tasks will be created with this work center as the destination. The consolidation itself will then have to be carried out at the work center.
- Minimum HU fill level, in % – the minimum percentage to which an HU is filled for consolidation tasks to be created. If you only want full pallets to be built, set it to 100%.
- Maximum number of warehouse tasks – a limit on the number of warehouse tasks for which consolidation is possible.
Once all the data has been entered, the system shows a screen with the stock it proposes to consolidate. You can check it and create the warehouse tasks. Unfortunately I do not have a live example at hand; the screen looks like this (only filled in, of course):

The new functionality lives in the package /SCWM/STOCK_CONS:

Three BAdIs are also available for changing the standard logic; let us go through each of them:

The order in which they are called in the class method /SCWM/CL_SCON_CONTROLLER->PROCESS:
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_SELECTION- SEL_STOCK_ITEMS
There is a standard method in the fallback class that selects physical stock according to the criteria entered. In this BAdI method you can write your own stock selection logic.
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_PROCESSING- ADJUST_SEL_STOCK_ITEMS
In this method you can adjust the result of the standard physical stock selection.
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_PROCESSING-ADJUST_STOCK_GROUPING
In this method you can adjust the outcome of the standard processing after it has grouped the stock for consolidation.
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_SELECTION-SEL_UOM_DATA
There is a standard method in the fallback class that determines the target unit of measure according to the parameter that was set. In this BAdI method you can write your own logic for determining the target UoM.
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_PROCESSING-ADJUST_SEL_UOM_DATA
In this BAdI method you can adjust the results of the standard determination of the target pallet UoM.
- /SCWM/EX_SCON_PROPOSAL - CALC_SCON_PROPOSALS
There is a standard method in the fallback class that actually decides which stock can be consolidated. In this BAdI you can write your own consolidation logic. The output is a table of grouped quants and a table of planned consolidation tasks.
So what is the bottom line? Decent functionality. In some warehouses the stock removal strategy is set up in such a way that identical stock can be picked from different bins. For warehouses like that this utility will be very useful for gathering the leftovers in one place and freeing up bins in the process.
