In this article I describe a new piece of functionality in wave management, namely the automatic retry of wave release.
This option was added in the following support packages (Note: 0002203074):
| Software Component | Release | Support Package |
| SCMEWM | 900 | SAPK-90014INSCMEWM |
| 910 | SAPK-91008INSCMEWM | |
| 920 | SAPK-92004INSCMEWM | |
| 930 | SAPK-93002INSCMEWM |
It happens very often that when a wave is released, warehouse tasks are not created for all of the wave items for one reason or another – the picking area has not been replenished yet, or bins are blocked because a physical inventory is active. These are the kind of reasons that will most likely resolve themselves. Nevertheless they force the manager in charge of the waves to keep hammering the wave release button in the hope that all tasks will finally be created. SAP has at last fixed this shortcoming. Now you can specify at wave template level the time, in minutes, after which a new job to release the wave will be scheduled automatically if the wave was released with errors:

The indicator that a wave was released with errors is status «E» in the wave header:

I think this functionality will make life noticeably easier for warehouse managers.
